Soil Resources Engineering Research Team
The Soil Resources Engineering Research Team merges environmental protection with engineering techniques for the rational use, reclamation and protection of soil.
Protecting and enhancing the multifunctional role of soils in the hydrophysical, biophysical, and chemical processes is a key challenge in relation to climate change. The team’s research addresses this challenge in the context of both ecology and engineering to create sustainable systems that enhance or mitigate risk factors.
The team’s research focuses on:
1. Development of bioengineering techniques for carbon sequestration in mineral soils and reducing organic matter mineralisation processes in peat-moorsh soils.
2. Incorporating the soil environment into a sustainable circular economy.
3. Development of polluted and degraded area reclamation methods.
4. Development of polluted-area monitoring techniques.
5. Development of carbon sequestration methods in agricultural areas.
